Summary

The Eurasia Foundation’s China Program supports rural women’s empowerment through participation in local sustainable development and environmental protection projects. The China Intern, under the supervision of the China Officer, will provide administrative support and help ensure seamless communication between the program’s DC office and partners in the field. The China Intern will also be responsible for sourcing and analyzing breaking Chinese news, program communications activities, and taking on ad hoc projects in a dynamic environment, including program development.  

Duties

  • Provide administrative assistance to program team members in DC and China, including payment processing and logistical support
  • Conduct weekly trawls of Chinese-language news sources for information relevant to evolving program needs 
  • Conduct analytical research in support of program development and implementation 
  • Translate documents between English and Chinese as needed
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Native Mandarin speaker, from mainland China or Taiwan, with ability to translate documents from Chinese into English and vice versa 
  • Experience with or capacity to develop competence in online content management 
  • A strong interest in civil society, as well as familiarity with social issues and emerging trends in China 
  • Strong research, analysis, and communication (written and oral) ability
  • Exceptional planning and organization ability
  • A positive attitude and a good sense of humor
