The Project Accountant is responsible for monitoring and maintaining records of donor awards, preparing financial reports to donors and EF management and providing full cycle management of subgrants/subcontracts flowing from grants, cooperative agreements and contracts implemented by EF.


  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc financial donor reports for USG and non-USG donors, including accruals, projections and foreign tax reports
  • Create and maintain budget tracking tools for all programs and departments
  • Assist program staff with post-award budget management and preparation of budget modifications and extensions
  • Prepare Letter of Credit drawdown documentation, seek approval, submit on-line request through HHS Payment Management System, and update internal tracking spreadsheets
  • Review subgrantee monitoring systems to ensure compliance with USG and EF policies and practices
  • Provide training and support to internal and external constituents on issues related to grants management
  • In conjunction with Controller and program teams, review, recommend, award and monitor new subgrants
  • Serve as administrator and power user for the proposal/grants management software
  • Work with Accountant to reconcile subgrant information and prepare for the annual audit
  • Assist with coordination of annual institutional budgeting process by maintaining and improving templates, ensuring timely submission by internal budget managers
  • Working with program staff, ensure compliance with all terms of award agreements
  • Other reasonable tasks as assigned by the Controller



Experience: 4 years of progressively responsible not-for-profit financial service experience necessary, specific duties including program finance reporting, cash management and/or subrecipient monitoring required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree and work experience acceptable

Other: Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and 2 CFR; advanced knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and computer database software; above average verbal and written customer service skills; ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work effectively with others; previous work with Serenic Navigator a plus.
