EF contracts with external evaluation consultants to ensure the independence of findings. EF staff then shares best practices both within the EF Network and with peer organizations. Evaluation recommendations contribute directly to project improvement by emphasizing learning and accountability. EF is a privately managed non-profit organization supported by the government and other public and private donors. EF has no religious, government or political affiliation.
EF was created in 1992 with the support of the U.S. government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support development projects in the former Soviet Union. Since then, EF has received support from corporations, foundations, international governments and individuals from all over the world to sustain its mission and programs in different countries..
