Afghanistan Technical Expert

Summary

Eurasia Foundation (EF), a US-based international development organization promoting civil society strengthening, good governance, and economic development, is accepting applications for a technical adviser / expert in women’s rights advocacy in Afghanistan to support EF pursuing a new business opportunity.

Duties

The women’s rights advisor/expert will support the development of a competitive technical application in response to solicitations from USG. Successful applicant will assist in the technical design and proposal writing sharing knowledge and expertise in CSO-led advocacy to promote women’s rights and women’s leadership skill-building in Afghanistan, virtual and in-person educational exchanges, and organizational capacity building. The technical expert will contribute to the overall approach and program design with EF’s DC-based development team.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of international development experience. Experience in implementing programs in Afghanistan strongly preferred;
  • Strong understanding of women’s issues in Afghanistan and demonstrated knowledge of advocacy best practices in non-permissive environments to address women’s issues;
  • Strong relationship with women stakeholders such as women NGOs, universities, and policy making organizations in Afghanistan;
  • Proven track record of writing successful proposals for USG donors;
  • Demonstrated experience in project design. Previous field-based project management experience is a plus;
  • Technical writing and editing skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments in deadline-driven environment and strong attention to detail required;
  • Experience with contributing to cost proposals;
  • Fluency in English required; Dari and Pashto proficiency strongly preferred.
