Summary

Eurasia Foundation (EF), a US non-profit organization promoting civil society development and good governance, is accepting applications for a Grants Assistant for the Civil Society Support Program in Central Asia (CSSP). The purpose of CSSP is to cultivate a vibrant and responsive citizen-oriented civil society in Central Asia.

The Grants Assistant is responsible for assisting the Grants Managers with the implementation and administration of all grants to be awarded in Kazakhstan as part of CSSP’s grant portfolio. The Grants Assistant is based in the EF Almaty, Kazakhstan office and reports to the CSSP Grants Manager for Kazakhstan.

Duties

  • Assist the grants team in the full cycle of grant award and management from announcement, pre-award assessments, technical assistance to grantees and close-out, in accordance with CSSP’s Grants Manual
  • Conduct pre-screening of grant applications
  • Review applications submitted through the grant management platform
  • Respond to applicant questions on technical submission questions and maintain a tracker of queries
  • Accurately organize and manage files in grant folders
  • Assist with preparing correspondence with grantees
  • Work with the Accountant and Grants Manager to schedule reporting requirements and payments for new grantees
  • Assist in reviewing grantee budgets and expenditure reports to ensure grantee progress against program goals
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field required; Master’s degree a plus
  • At least two years of experience in grant awards, preferably as part an international development program
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines while quickly producing high-quality products is essential
  • Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.); familiarity with Microsoft 365 a plus
  • Experience working in Central Asia
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Russian required; knowledge of Kazakh preferred
