Communications Officer

Under the supervision of the president, the communications officer is responsible for developing and implementing a communications strategy that supports the organization’s overall mission and strategy. Tasks include identifying target audiences and objectives, creatively and compellingly communicating the impact of Eurasia Foundation’s programs, managing and creating content for EF’s website and social media channels, developing electronic and print publications, drafting and distributing announcements, and contributing to the planning and delivery of EF public events.



  • Manage all aspects of strategic communications
  • Lead in developing creative ways to document the impact of Eurasia Foundation’s programs
  • Prepare the annual communications plan as part of EF’s larger annual operating plan
  • Maintain and promote EF’s identity guidelines internally
  • In cooperation with program teams, produce and distribute feature stories, blog posts, organizational news, event announcements, and other electronic publications
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy and reporting appropriate for the organization based on social media trends and best practices
  • Support EF’s public events, including producing communications strategies and products tailored to those events
  • Manage EF’s website in accordance with maintenance and update plans; update information and improve site design, as appropriate; monitor and report on website analytics
  • With guidance from the business development department, support the production of technical collateral and capability statements for outreach efforts
  • Produce EF’s annual report and contribute to other external and internal reports
  • Maintain a library of EF print products
  • Other duties as assigned by the president


  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
  • Experience: Must be a self-starter with a passion for storytelling. Minimum 3 years relevant experience required, including website content development. Superior verbal and written communication skills required, as are cross-culture sensitivity, respect for diversity, and interpersonal skills.  Ability to manage multiple projects and successfully meet deadlines while quickly producing high quality work is essential. Press, events, publications, photography, video production and/or editing, and vendor management experience highly desirable.
  • Software Skills Required: advanced Office 365; Adobe Creative Cloud (including InDesign and Photoshop), MailChimp, and WordPress.
  • Other:  Familiarity with US Government-funded democracy and governance foreign assistance programs highly desirable. Eligibility to work in the US required.
