Summary

Eurasia Foundation (EF), a US non-profit organization promoting civil society development and good governance, is accepting applications for an Information Technology Assistant in our Washington, D.C. office.  

The Information Technology Assistant will work with vendors to support information technology (IT) solutions to ensure that IT solutions run secure and efficiently and provide user assistance to allow EF staff to use technology efficiently and securely. The position requires the ability to technically assess user requirements and system configurations, including from a security perspective. The IT Assistant will be working with a wide variety of technologies. The ideal candidate will understand information technology management and service principles, user experience, and risk management concepts and processes in a non-profit, international environment. 

Duties

  • Work with various IT vendors to monitor quality of service and security; onboard new users; assist users with resolving issues or finding appropriate solutions;  
  • Assist with administering and monitoring various software platforms and services, including intranet system; Office 365; G-suite; AWS; web domains; WordPress; and learning management system; 
  • Communicate with vendors to obtain quotes, place orders and reconcile differences as needed; 
  • Assist with Information Technology assets and services procurement and lifecycle management, including inventory management; 
  • Assist with development, management, and reporting on organizational Information Technology policies, processes and roadmaps to include analysis of potential areas for improvement and prioritization of risks; 
  • Support an enterprise-wide Cyber Security Risk Management program; 
  • Conduct internal IT assessments as assigned; 
  • Support IT System owners on all matters, technical and otherwise, involving internal quality assurance and security; 
  • Assist with information security audit preparation; 
  • Assist with preparing content and providing training to staff on software platforms, including Office 365 applications; regularly update intranet content as new features appear; 
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned; 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Business Process and Knowledge Management Officer. 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree and 1-2 years of related professional experience or bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science; 
  • Knowledge and strong interest in Information Technology principles, concepts, practices, processes; database software, systems software, including G-Suite, MS SharePoint, MS Power Automate to carry out activities; 
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts;  
  • Comfort and familiarity with technology with a user experience mindset; 
  • Knowledge and interest in information security trends, frameworks and best practices; 
  • Knowledge of the systems development process; website development lifecycle process and relevant technology and tools, including HTML, PHP, JavaScript, SQL, AWS, Google Cloud, WordPress, Moodle, Content Distribution Networks; 
  • General knowledge of search engine optimization and associated tools; such as Google Tag Management; Google analytics; 
  • Customer-service orientation, particularly for internal clients; 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;  
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or willingness to obtain it; 
  • Professional proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, Farsi/Dari, Russian, or Ukrainian is a plus.
