EF is seeking applications for a Civil Society Capacity Building Expert for an anticipated USAID-funded program that will cultivate a vibrant and responsive citizen-oriented civil society in Georgia. The new program will focus on providing a wide range of technical support options and resources to promote inclusive civil society practices and initiatives, and enhance the long-term sustainability and self-reliance of the civil society sector.

The Civil Society Capacity Building Expert will support the institutional capacity building needs of selected civil society organizations (CSOs) and will develop, coordinate and implement customized trainings and other activities for grantees and program beneficiaries. This position is contingent upon funding. 

Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis and qualified candidates should apply as soon as possible.

• Recruit and train a cohort of consultants specialized in a wide range of technical and institutional capacity areas to provide customized trainings, coaching and advice to selected CSOs 
• Oversee organizational capacity assessments to identify institutional needs
• Review and advise on organizational performance plans and monitor progress towards achieving organizational milestones. Serve as an expert on the selection committee for the organizational development (OD) grants 
• Serve as a capacity building advisor for CSOs. 
• Organize and lead training events when needed
• Oversee OD grants 


• Bachelor’s degree in international development, political science, or related field. Master’s preferred.
• Demonstrated technical expertise in civil society capacity building, organizational capacity assessment and growth models and CSO networking required. 
• At least five years of international experience working with CSOs for USG-funded international development projects.
• Experience working in Georgia. 
• Excellent speaking, writing, reporting and other communications skills in English and Georgian.
