Summary

Eurasia Foundation (EF) is accepting applications for a consultant to serve as Positive Youth Development Specialist for the Civil Society Support Program in Central Asia (CSSP). EF is a US non-profit organization promoting civil society development and good governance, and the purpose of CSSP is to cultivate a vibrant and responsive citizen- oriented civil society in Central Asia.

The Positive Youth Development Specialist will ensure effective overall management of EF’s youth programming across Uzbekistan.

Duties

The Positive Youth Development Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the CSSP Country Coordinator and in close collaboration with the regional Positive Youth Development Expert (based in Almaty) and be responsible for doing the following:

  • Localize technical design and conduct implementation of youth development interventions in line with global and regional best practices in youth development and youth-led organizational strengthening
  • Engage youth-led groups and active youth by fostering the development and use of innovative approaches to promote youth leadership
  • Oversee outreach events for youth from Uzbekistan
  • Engage Uzbekistani youth in regional workshops, webinars and conferences
  • Serve as an expert on selection committees for small grants for youth-led projects
  • Translate relevant program documents from English and Russian into Uzbek (Latin and Cyrillic)
  • Track best practices and success stories of Uzbekistani youth involved in the program
  • Provide other support, as needed.

Qualifications

  • At least four years of experience in managing youth-focused programs, preferably for an international organization
  • Deep knowledge of youth leadership development and youth empowerment
  • Knowledge of youth issues, relevant civil society actors and the political/social context across Central Asia as well as experience integrating youth empowerment and engagement with civil society programming
  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, organizational development, public policy or other relevant areas of study; Master’s degree highly preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, Russian and Uzbek required
  • Knowledge of Tajik, Turkmen or Kazakh a plus.
