Navigating local healthcare systems can be a daunting task, but EF's Transparency and Accountability in Public Administration and Services (TAPAS) program is applying open data to help Ukrainians access affordable medicine. In November 2019, TAPAS and the National Health Service of Ukraine launched an online tool that displays an interactive map of pharmacies participating in the state-run Affordable Medicines program, through which patients can obtain certain medicines free or subsidized. Maps display pharmacies located within 7 kilometers (about 4 miles) of a patient's primary healthcare facility. As treatments for COVID-19 become available, patients can use this tool to find the nearest participating pharmacy to pick up affordable prescriptions.
