Online School to Advance the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

2016 - 2020

To support the inclusion and social integration of persons with disabilities (PwD) based on principles enshrined in the Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), EF launched the Online School for Persons with Disability Rights and Inclusion in September 2016.

EF created a series of interactive online courses on social entrepreneurship, advocacy skills and coalition building for a community of PwD advocates and social entrepreneurs. EF supports the community in using these tools in a collaborative way to advance the rights of PwD and promote inclusion in their own society.

Through the online courses, participants tackle important issues in the PwD community such as the right to education, the right to employment and the right to accessibility by forming coalitions and advocacy campaigns and PwD-centric social enterprises. As part of the course curriculum, participants design and implement their own project focused on some aspect of supporting PwD social inclusion.

EF uses a practical coaching approach throughout the series to meet each participant’s needs through the curriculum and with each specific project. In addition to providing individual support, EF has connected all course graduates into a supportive network, which serves as a community of experts in advancing PwD rights. Through this network participants and community members have the opportunity to exchange ideas, problem-solve, and offer guidance to each other as they explore and implement their own projects designed to positively impact society.
