EF is seeking applications from qualified candidates to serve as Accountant for the Digital Transformation Activity (DTA) in Ukraine. Funded by USAID and UK Dev, DTA aims to bolster Ukraine's digital transformation to promote the nation's economic revitalization, transparency in reconstruction, and democratic governance during the ongoing conflict and beyond. 

 

The Accountant is responsible for preparing financial reports, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and regulations. ThAccountant reports to the Finance Manager. 

 

 

DUTIES  

  • Process payments and manage documents such as invoices, journal vouchers, employee reimbursements, and bank statements;
  • Reconcile transactions, financial data, and other information using an automated accounting system;
  • Review, verify and process employee expense claims, ensuring employee compliance with EF policies and procedures and timely payment;
  • Verify items billed against items ordered and reconcile differences through follow-up with third-party vendors;
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly donor reports;
  • Maintain an orderly filing system for all accounting-related documents, including procurement memos, consultant contracts, invoices and other back-up documentation. 
  • Prepare monthly field office reports for review by the Finance Manager;
  • Perform additional routine administrative duties, as needed. 

 

CORE QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration from an accredited university required;
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in bookkeeping, accounting or financial operations, preferably for a USG-funded assistance program;
  • Demonstrated ability to reconcile and/or balance financial transactions and accounts;
  • Detailed knowledge of record keeping and filing requirements in Ukraine;
  • Ability to understand and apply current Ukrainian accounting guidelines, system updates and revisions, and policy changes;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Knowledge of financial management and accounting software required, including 1C;
  • Demonstrated familiarity with MS Office, particularly Excel;
  • Native Ukrainian and/or Russian fluency required; English writing and spoken proficiency required.
